Our Diversity in Gaming Breakfast panel.

As games and the metaverse continue to grow, it’s important to ensure that diverse perspectives are represented in the development process. This panel will explore strategies for finding and recruiting diverse developers to build your metaverse and gameplay experiences. Panelists will discuss the benefits of diverse teams, share best practices for recruiting underrepresented groups, and provide insight on how to create an inclusive culture that fosters creativity and collaboration.

As one of our other sessions will point out, studies of the International Association of Game Developers have shown that the games industry has a pipeline problem, where it needs more women and people of color in the industry, and an advocacy problem, where women and people of color and non-binary people of all ethnicities are underrepresented in management.

I would also like to remind you that our sixth Women in the Game Breakfast will take place the day before, on May 22, also at the Marina del Rey Marriott, from 8 am to 9:10 am on the first day of our conference. If you would like to attend that ladies only breakfast, you can use the code GBSWIGB23. Both breakfast codes will have a maximum of 100 uses.

the next level

It’s my pleasure to note that this is our 15th annual event, and our theme is The Next Level, as what will deliver the next level of growth for gaming. Now we are in a tough recession and we need to combine the thinking of our best minds, and perhaps AIs, to figure out how to get to the other side.

And while times are tough, I still think it’s worth coming together in the center of the industry at GamesBeat Summit and contemplating the big questions facing games. Our topics include gaming and Hollywood, generative AI, user-generated content, mental health, sustainability, mobile gaming, diversity, blockchain gaming, and the metaverse.

Over the years, we’ve made GamesBeat Summit THE event to meet gaming thought leaders. Whatever the latest trend in gaming, whether you’re at the center of the industry or at the forefront, we expose you to top thinkers and let you draw your conclusions about what could affect gaming next.

GamesBeat’s Creed covering the games industry is “where passion meets business.” What does this mean? We want to tell you how news matters to you, not only as a decision maker in a game studio, but also as a game fan. Whether you read our articles, listen to our podcasts, or watch our videos, GamesBeat will help you learn about the industry and enjoy being involved. Discover our informative sessions.
