Happy Zelda Release Day everyone! I hope you all enjoy your time with Nintendo’s latest title, and I’ll get back to you all next week after we’ve all had a chance to enjoy it over the weekend. And I hope none of you have been spoiled by the leak that happened last week. It seems like this whole week has been a holding pattern, waiting for Tears of the Kingdom to drop, but we’ve had an interesting week nonetheless.
Nintendo and Electronic Arts released their financial earnings reports this week. While Electronic Arts’ numbers appear to be steady, though not steady enough to save layoffs earlier this year, Nintendo’s Switch sales are slipping. Judging by the report, the company has anticipated this and prepared accordingly. I have a feeling we’re not going to see that oft-rumored Switch follow-up any time soon.
Unfortunately, Hollow Knight: Silksong has been delayed again. While it never had a firm release date, the plan seemed to be to release it in the first half of this year. That window of time is closing fast, so it looks like the developers aren’t going to be racing to catch up with it. We also heard a rumor that the next game in the Call of Duty series is a remake of Modern Warfare 3, a story I’d love to re-experience.
In personal news, I fair I managed to post my Dead Island 2 review before Tears of the Kingdom dropped. While I have a lot of room in my heart for other games, I think I’m going to stick with the new Zelda because it gives me serious FOMO when a game as big as this comes out. Other than that, I might try to carve out some time to play more Jedi: Survivor, but I don’t promise to play anything other than Zelda in the days to come.
