Amazon announced today that it will launch a new shopping platform called Amazon Anywhere. This new “immersive shopping experience” allows customers to buy real items within virtual worlds like games. The company is launching the Anywhere experience first within Peridot, Niantic’s new AR pet simulator mobile game.

Amazon Anywhere used within Peridot.

Peridot players can purchase physical products within the game app, as long as they have linked their Amazon account. They will see the price, payment and shipping details within the app, instead of being transferred to Amazon. They can also view the purchase and track it through the Amazon app.

Ziah Fogel, director of production for Peridot, said in a statement: “We are excited to bring incredible new capabilities to our players using Amazon Anywhere on Peridot. Never before has it been easier for our fans to purchase branded physical merchandise directly from the experience, without ever leaving the game. This really brings the Peridot universe to life, creating more opportunities for our players to interact with the brand and helping to blend the virtual and physical worlds, which is what Niantic is all about!

Amazon Anywhere could, in theory, be implemented in several different games or virtual worlds. Steve Downer, Amazon’s vice president of consumer electronics, said: “By working with developers like Niantic, we can showcase new and creative ways for customers to discover relevant products beyond traditional online stores, enabling more immersive experiences and attractive both inside and out. of virtual worlds.
